Arrival at the airport of Bucharest and meet with the tour guide that will remain at your disposal for the entire tour in Romania. According to the flight timetable, departure by bus for a sightseeing of the capital of Romania, admiring its large boulevards, marvelous buildings Bell’ Epoque, the Arch of Triumph, the Romanian Athenaeum, the Revolution Square, University Square. Dinner in a typical restaurant and overnight stay in a 4* or 5* hotel in Bucharest.
2nd day: BUCHAREST - SINAIA - PREJMER - BRASOV
After breakfast in the hotel, departure for Sinaia, named the Carpathian’s Pearl, the most famous town in Romania’s mountains. Visit the castle of Peles, former royal residence, built at the end of the 19th century, in neo-gothic style, typical for the castles from Bavaria. The inside of Peles castle has 160 rooms, organized and decorated in all possible manners, with a clear dominance of wood in decorations. Lunch in restaurant. Arrival at Prejmer, fortified church included also in UNESCO’s World Heritage, one of the best conserved from Eastern Europe. The church was built in the late-gothic style in the 15th century and it used to be surrounded by walls tall of 12 meters, quadrilateral and with four towers in the angles of horseshoe shape, two of the towers destroyed during wars. The entrance, a vaulted gallery, is protected by a barbican; the church door at the bottom of a four-level basement which was destined to the barn and to accommodate the villagers in case of danger. At the end of the visit arrival in Brasov. Short guided visited in Brasov, one of the most fascinating medieval cities in Romania, admiring the Schei Neighborhood with the Saint Nicholas Church, the first Romanian school (15th century), the Black Church, and the fortress of the city with the corporations’ bastions. Dinner in restaurant and overnight stay in hotel 3* or 5* at Brasov.
3rd day: BRASOV - SASCHIZ - DARJIU - SIGHISOARA - BIERTAN - SIBIU
After breakfast in hotel, departure for Saschiz. Visit the fortified church in Gothic style from 1496; the church and the tower that supports, reached their present appearance only in 1677. The fortified church of Saschiz was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Continuing with the visit of the village church Darjiu, part of the UNESCO World Heritage List. Initially built in the Romanesque style, the church was converted into a basilica in the fifteenth century in late Gothic style. The entrance portal of the nave are of the sixteenth century. The altar is decorated with images of a pelican with its baby on the one hand and the moon, the sun and some other masks. The fortification which surrounds the church was built to a height of five meters, with towers at the four corners, which served to protect the inhabitants of Darjiu from invasion. At one side of the spaces that are still available to every family had to guard the gold and the grain, so as to be able to withstand in the event of war. Lunch in a restaurant on the route. Arrival in Sighisoara and guided tour of the most beautiful and best preserved medieval town in Romania; the city is part of the UNESCO World Heritage. It dates largely to the fourteenth century, when it was enlarged and strengthened the building hastily erected after the destruction of the Tatars in 1241. There are preserved nine of the fourteen original towers: tower of blacksmiths, shoemakers tower, tower of butchers, tailors tower, tower tanners, coppersmiths tower, etc.. The most beautiful and famous monument of the city and the Clock tower which was built in the thirteenth and fourteenth centuries and up to 1556 it was the seat of the Council of the city. Departure to Sibiu. Stop in Biertan, village founded by Saxon settlers in the twelfth century and was throughout the sixteenth century an important market and the Lutheran bishop's seat until the last century. Visit the fortified church Biertan, built at the highest point of the village, in the fourteenth century as a basilica hall in the Gothic style, surrounding shortly after a china walls. Today the church is part of the UNESCO World Heritage. At the end of the visit arrival in Sibiu, European Capital of Culture in 2007. Short guided tour of the historic center, known for its fortification system considered to be the largest of the Transylvanian with over 7 km of city walls which today preserves important vestiges. You can admire the Big Square with the particularity of the city roofs with "eyes that follow you," and the Small Square with the bridge of Lies. Dinner and overnight stay in hotel 4* or 5* at Sibiu.
4th day: SIBIU - CALNIC - ALBA IULIA - CLUJ NAPOCA - BAIA MARE
After breakfast in the hotel, departure for Calnic. The castle of Calnic is considered part of UNESCO World Heritage and it was first certified in 1269. Built to be a noble residence, in 1430 it was bought by the locals and fortified. It consists of a large courtyard surrounded by walls, resting on which there are some buildings. At the center of the courtyard there is a large tower and a chapel. The castle is fairly well preserved, differs from many other similar buildings on the grounds of not being placed on a hill, but in a valley at an altitude lower than the surrounding hills. Continue to Cluj Napoca. Stop in Alba Iulia for a short visit of the fortified citadel built by Emperor Charles IV from the draft Morando Visconti in 1714; visit the Catholic cathedral of the city, one of the most important sacred buildings of Romania. The city was founded by the Romans in the second century AD under Marcus Aurelius and destroyed by the Tartars in 1241 Alba Iulia was the residence of the princes of Transylvania and of a Roman Catholic bishop. Road to get to Cluj Napoca. Lunch in restaurant. In the afternoon a short guided tour of the old Klausenburg for the Saxon settlers and the Kolozsvar of the Hungarians, the main city of Transylvania, a great center of culture and art. We admire the birthplace of King Matthias Corvinus (external) and the most important Gothic church in the country, Sfintu Mihail, built between the fourteenth and fifteenth centuries. Continue to get to Baia Mare. Dinner and overnight stay at 4* hotel.
5th day: BAIA MARE - SURDESTI - DESESTI - BARSANA - IEUD - BISTRITA
After breakfast at hotel, depart to visit the wooden churches of Maramures, all belonging to the UNESCO World Heritage Site. Closed between mountains, Maramures is a galaxy of small villages, all in wood, where the population leads a superb beauty costume. Visit the church of Surdesti, built after the mid-eighteenth century. The church has rich paintings and a peculiar iconostasis. Its tower offers a breathtaking view of the countryside of the region. It is the largest wooden structure in Europe. Visit the church of Desesti, born out of a church in 1360 and boasts beautiful interior paintings of the late eighteenth century. Lunch in a restaurant on the route. Visit the church Barsana, who says that it was built on the left bank of the river Iza, after it was moved here on the right bank, at a place later called "bridge of the monastery." Built in 1720, the church dedicated to the Virgin and has a rectangular plan with an apse of five sides. Afterwards, we visit the church of Ieud, 1364, considered the oldest building in this style of Maramures. Ieud is one of the first inhabited villages in Maramures. Inside the church there are some paintings in Byzantine style primitive. At the end of the road to get to visits Bistrita. Dinner and overnight stay in a 3* or 5* hotel.
6th day: BISTRITA - MONASTERIES OF BUCOVINA - PIATRA NEAMT
7th day: PIATRA NEAMT - BACAU - MARASESTI - TULCEA
After breakfast at hotel, depart for Tulcea, through Moldova. Lunch in a restaurant on the route. In the late afternoon arrival in Tulcea. Dinner and overnight in 4 * hotel.
8th day: TULCEA - DANUBE DELTA - BUCAREST
After breakfast in the hotel entire morning dedicated to the visit by boat to the protected area of the Danube Delta, the youngest land in Europe, a true natural laboratory. The river is home to over 1200 varieties of plants, 300 species of birds and 45 species of freshwater fish in its numerous lakes and marshes. The Danube Delta has been included in the UNESCO list of the sites listed as World Heritage Site and Biosphere Reserve. Approximately 2733 km² are strictly protected areas. Near Tulcea, the Danube divides into three branches, before flowing into the Black Sea: Chilia, along about 104 km, to the North, Sulina, along about 71 km, and constantly dredged to allow navigation of the river Danube is the central branch and Sfintu Gheorghe, along about 112 km, is the Southernmost branch. But many other smaller canals divide the delta in areas covered by vegetation, swamps and forests, some of which are flooded during the fall and spring. 9th day: BUCAREST - RUSSE - ARBANASSI - VELIKO TARNOVO
Breakfast in the hotel. Dedicating the morning to visit the old town square, the Patriarchy (spiritual center for the Romanian orthodox church), admiring Stavropoleos church, considered to be a masterpiece of the Romanian architecture. Built in 1724, has trefoil plan, the tower on the naos and beautiful marble portico five poly-lobed arches, balustrade with finely carved with floral motifs and figures; the top and adorned with medallions painted with the fresco technique. Departure to the Bulgarian fronteer, Ruse where you will meet the tour guide that will accompany you in Bulgaria. Lunch on route. Continue to Arbanassi, a splendid museum - town, known for its wonderful church the Birth of Christ, from the 16th-17th century. Continue to Veliko Tarnovo, dinner and overnight stay at Grand Hotel Jantra 4* or similar.
10th day: VELIKO TARNOVO - MONASTERY OF TROYAN - SOFIA (250 km)
Breakfast in the hotel and visit the town of Veliko Tarnovo, the old fortress Tsarevetz also named the "hill of the czars." Continue to the Troyan monastery “The Dormition of the Virgin”, third in its dimensions and one of the most loved by the Bulgarians. Lunch near the monastery. Continue towards Sofia. Dinner and overnight stay at Sofia Princess 4* Hotel or similar.
11th day: SOFIA - RILA MONASTERY - SOFIA
Breakfast at hotel and morning visit to the center of the Bulgarian capital with the neo-Byzantine Alexander Nevski, the church St. Sofia and the square of St. George. Departure to the Rila monastery with a stop for lunch along the way. In the afternoon visit the Rila Monastery, the most important and the largest monastery in Bulgaria. Finished the visit, return to Sofia. Dinner and overnight at hotel Sofia Princess 4* or similar.
12th day: SOFIA - Departure
Breakfast in the hotel. Free time at your disposal and transfer to the airport for departure. End of our services.
